Evacuating To A Red Cross Shelter

 

The American Red Cross wants you to know what to do if a hurricane, flood, transportation, or other disaster threatens and you need to leave you home or campground. This information is valid if receive an ‘Official Order’ or voluntary to evacuate; made by a town official.

 

A shelter may be located at a local school, Fire Department, church or other facility.  This location will be identified by the local Emergency Management team and the American Red Cross. This information will be released to you by radio, television, and/or notification process by town officials. 

 

If you are asked to evacuate, you are encouraged to bring the following things with you:   

 

 

DO NOT BRING: valuables, weapons, non prescription medications, or pets (only service animals). For safety and liability reasons, pets are not allowed in Red Cross shelters.  However, they can be left in your vehicle at the shelter or at home with food and water.
