Cheshire Fire Department holds it biennial Spring Dance and awards banquet
By Captain Brian Owen
May 7, 2023
The C.F.D. held its biennial dance on May 5, 2023 at the Aqua Turf in Southington. The dance includes the Chiefs Awarding and recognizing members for their years of service and each company Captain choosing a deserving member for the "Captains Choice Award". Congratulations to FF Benjamin Barry (HQ) LT Christopher Owen (Station 3) and FF Zachary Schiavi (Company 2) for being this years recipients of the Captains Choice Award. Congratulations to all the members from 1 year to 59 years of active service to the C.F.D. 962 years of combined service time by the members present at the dance. This dance started in the late 50s and was held every year until recent years when it was changed to every other. The dance was originally run by headquarters company until this past year when the department in name was made one after the dissolving of Company 2 as its own company. This is the 1st year of the dance run by Cheshire Fire Department. We also reflect on the passing of two of our members over the last 2 years, Life Member Richard Iannantuoni and Ladies Auxiliary Life Member Fran Doherty.
