Zach was chosen this year by the members of the CFD. The Firefighter of the year award is a 3 part recognition, with the first being the William Grove Award, considered the most prestigious award given by the CFD along with the Cheshire Rotary. It is named after William Grove, the only member of the fire department to lose his life in the line of duty. Some of Willies attributes where dedication, integrity, a good firefighter and a good friend around the firehouse. These qualities are what the CFD members use to choose a member each year since 1976. In the fall Zach will be recognized at the Aqua Turf, along with many other fire departments from Connecticut, and early next year by the Chamber of Commerce at the Aria in Prospect.
