First arriving units were met with heavy fire through the roof of the dormitory. An initial defensive attack was set up with a ladder pipe followed quickly by an aggressive interior attack and simultaneous searches of the dorm rooms to ensure all occupants were out. The main fire was under control quickly and crews worked hot spots and overhaul for approximately 3 hours. Mutual aid from Prospect, Wolcott and Southington was immediately requested to the scene upon dispatch for assistance.
Responding units where Cheshire Engines 4, 3, 1, Truck 1. Car 1, Car 2, Car 13, Prospect Engine, Wolcott Engine, Southington Engine and Ladder Truck.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Cheshire Fire Marshal's office with assistance from the State Fire Marshal's office. No fire or civilian injuries were reported.
