Structure Fire on Mayview Ave
By CFD Web Administrator
January 27, 2015
On January 27, 2015 at 07:02 AM, Cheshire Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Mayview Avenue. Due to the snow and wind conditions, volunteer personnel were already standing-by at all 3 of Cheshire's Fire Stations.
Engine 1 personnel responding from the nearby Byam Road Fire Station arrived on scene within minutes and immediately went to work to attack the fire. Fire was already venting from the roof of the house and the heavy snow conditions made it very challenging for apparatus and personnel to access the home.
Firefighters were able to successfully contain the fire to the area of origin. However, the first floor and roof of the home sustained significant damage from the fire.
The incident was placed under control within an hour. The Cheshire Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Due to the snow and length of the driveway, Engine 1 and Engine 4 were the only apparatus to operate in front of the residence. Additional equipment had to be carried a considerable distance by fire personnel.
